The second day of the NHL Draft got started with a trio of massive trades involving some big names and salary dumps.

First, the Toronto Maple Leafs sent forward Patrick Marleau to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Leafs are looking for cap relief and paid a big price to get Marleau's $6.25 million cap hit off of their books, sending a conditional first round pick in 2020 along with Marleau to Carolina. If Toronto's 2020 first round pick winds up a top-10 selection, Carolina would get Toronto's 2021 first round selection instead.

Shortly after that, the Nashville Predators traded away defenseman P.K. Subban to the New Jersey Devils. Like Toronto, Nashville was hoping for some cap relief. Subban and his $9 million cap hit move on to the Devils, who sent back defensive prospects Steven Santini and Jeremy Davies, a second round pick in 2019 and a second round pick in 2020.

The Tampa Bay Lightning also got cap relief in dealing away froward J.T. Miller to the Vancouver Canucks, who sent goaltender Marek Mazanec, a 2020 third round pick and a conditional first rounder to the Lightning. If Vancouver fails to make the playoffs in 2020, the first round selection moves to 2021.

TRADE: The Lightning have traded forward J.T. Miller to Vancouver for a conditional first-round pick in 2020, a third-round selection in 2019 and goaltender Marek Mazanec. Should the Canucks not make the playoffs in 2019-20, the first-round selection will move to the 2021 draft.
