Bills release four players, save about $12 million in cap space

In addition to Taron Johnson and Curtis Samuel being cut, Taylor Rapp and Dane Jackson were also released Friday

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills have officially announced the release of four veteran players, including three from their secondary:

- CB - Taron Johnson
- CB - Dane Jackson
- S - Taylor Rapp
- WR - Curtis Samuel

The three releases will clear around $12.2 million in salary cap space for the team in 2026.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Johnson is responsible for one of the most memorable plays in franchise history when he returned a Lamar Jackson pass 101 yards for a pick-six in the 2020 AFC Divisional Round against the Baltimore Ravens.

Selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jackson had returned to Buffalo last year after spending the first four years of his career with the Bills, then one year with the Carolina Panthers. He was on the practice squad all season before being signed to the 53-man roster prior to the beginning of the playoffs.

Rapp has spent the last three seasons with the Bills after signing as a free agent from the Los Angles Rams.

Samuel has been with the Bills for two seasons after four years with the Panthers and three with the Washington Commanders.
