Bills safeties Cole Bishop, Taylor Rapp return to practice Wednesday

Bills starting left tackle Dion Dawkins did not participate on Wednesday

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills got good news on the practice field Wednesday when both of their presumed starting safeties returned to action. However, the team is still without quite a few other players due to injury.

Safeties Taylor Rapp (knee) and Cole Bishop (quad) had both been out since the team was at St. John Fisher University for training camp over a week ago. Both players participated in individual position work on Tuesday, but appeared to be full participants throughout Wednesday's session, including playing 11-on-11 against the offense.

The news wasn't as favorable when it came to starting left tackle Dion Dawkins, who was not seen on or around the field at all. Dawkins left Tuesday's practice with athletic trainers and did not return.

Several other players also did not participate, including:

- WR - Khalil Shakir
- WR - Curtis Samuel
- WR - Elijah Moore
- WR - Tyrell Shavers
- OL - Tylan Grable
- OL - Sedrick Van Pran-Granger (PUP)
- DE - Justin Hollins
- DB - Cam Lewis
- K - Tyler Bass

Rookie cornerback Max Hairston remained out, as well.

Offensive lineman Alec Anderson, who had been out multiple weeks after getting his knee scoped, returned to participate in individual positional work.

Wide receiver Joshua Palmer had a large wrap and sleeve on his left leg, and didn’t seem like he was moving near 100%, but also didn't appear to take off a single rep and was very involved in every aspect of practice, even catching quite a few passes from Josh Allen during 11-on-11 work.

Running back James Cook was also a full participant shortly after signing a new four-year contract extension worth a reported $48 million.

Off to the "Windy City"

The Bills will fly to Chicago on Thursday for a joint practice against the Bears on Friday, then a preseason game between the clubs on Sunday night.
