The Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with defensive end Efe Obada, the team announced on Wednesday.

Obada comes to the Bills from the Carolina Panthers, where he spent the last three years of his career and played for current Bills defensive line coach Eric Washington, who was the team's defensive coordinator in 2018 and 2019 before joining Sean McDermott's staff in Buffalo.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound Obada finished second in sacks on the Panthers last season with 5.5. That total is more than any player had on the Bills defense last year.

Obada, who will turn 29 in April, was raised in London after arriving from the Netherlands at age 10 and became was the first player from the NFL's International Pathway Program (the same program as Bills running back Christian Wade) to make a 53-man roster when he made the Panthers back in 2018. In his NFL debut in Week 3 that season, he was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after registering a sack and an interception against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Obada originally signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2015 after playing five games of amateur football with the London Warriors. He played in the preseason for the Cowboys and spent part of the 2015 season on the club's practice squad. He's also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons before joining the Panthers' practice squad as part of the International Player Pathway Program.

In his three seasons in Carolina, Obada played 42 games, registering 7.5 sacks to go along with 50 total tackles, including eight tackles for loss.
