Jim Kelly gifted Josh Allen a football with a very special message

Allen is looking to continue his success with the Bills as he heads into Year 4 in Buffalo

It’s been three decades since a Buffalo Bills quarterback was at the top of the National Football League. Jim Kelly led the Bills to four-straight Super Bowls in the early 1990s, positioning himself as one of the best at his position.

Last year, Josh Allen enjoyed a season unparalleled in Buffalo since Kelly’s prime. Now he needs to do it again, and again and again and again.

Kelly is doing his best to share his magic.

Over the weekend, Kelly and Allen met up, which is cool in and of itself. It’s rare when two franchise all-time greats get together, and even rarer when the passing of the torch is photographed.

That’s right, Kelly handed Allen with a football inscribed with a very special message: “Passing the torch.” Kelly's wife, Jill, shared the image.

Five balls were signed by Allen and Kelly in total. They'll be used for auction for the charity Hunter's Hope.

Kelly spent all 11 seasons of his career in Buffalo, so Allen has many years to go. But so far, he’s put up unparalleled numbers in Bills history. He set team records for passing yards and touchdowns just last season.

If all goes according to plan, Allen will be connecting with Stefon Diggs deep into January for many years to come. Kelly’s football may give him the final rub he needs.
