Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in the 2023 season.
This week's honor comes after a huge performance from Allen in a 38-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday to help Buffalo earn its first win of the season. In the Bills' home opener at Highmark Stadium, Allen completed 31-of-37 pass attempts for 274 yards and three touchdowns.
Among the notable happenings from Sunday's performance was Allen working on a methodical 75-yard drive to open the second half that chewed 9:01 off the game clock. The drive resulted in a two-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Gabe Davis touchdown.
In the fourth quarter, Allen was also able to connect with Davis on a 40-yard toss on his final offensive drive of the game. That resulted in a touchdown run from running back Damien Harris.
This is the 11th time in Allen's career where he's been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, which sets a new franchise record for the Bills, eclipsing Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly's 10 honors.
Allen and the Bills will look to improve to 2-1 on the season come Sunday when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the 2-0 Commanders at FedEx Field.
Sunday's kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET on the official voice of the Bills - WGR Sports Radio 550.
