The Bills couldn't get much going in this game after going down by two scores in the early minutes of the first quarter. While the Bills did show signs of life at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half, it wasn't enough to move the needle.

With the win, the Bengals move on to the AFC Championship Game for the second year in-a-row against the Kansas City Chiefs. As for the Bills, well, it's on to the offseason.

The Bengals started hot right out of the gate with a lot of energy, and controlled the game early. Bills head coach Sean McDermott says this was a big factor for the Bills as the game went on.

"They got into a rhythm pretty quickly offensively, and we had a hard time getting them out of that rhythm." said McDermott after the loss. "I thought the guys came out with the proper amount of energy, but when they're in the rhythm offensively and you can't get off the field, that can tend to zap your energy a little bit. I thought the guys' effort was there, we just didn't do enough to win."

Along with the intense energy that the Bengals had throughout the game, the Bills needed to adjust their game plan to better suit the situation that faced them. McDermott says the team did attempt to adjust their game plan midgame, but things didn't end up going in Buffalo's way.

"The challenge with that offense is you commit to stopping the run, and then they've got three really good receivers that, 1-on-1, are tough matchups for you," McDermott said. "I thought we came in with a good game plan and we adjusted through it, and at the end of the day, it wasn't enough."
