Orchard Park N.Y. (WGR 550) - Buffalo Bills fullback Reggie Gilliam has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for this past week's performance against the New York Jets.
Gilliam started Sunday's game off with a bang when on the opening kickoff, he made a huge tackle on Jets kick returner Xavier Gipson, causing the ball to come lose. The fumble was then recovered by tight end Quintin Morris, giving the Bills the ball at the Jets' 21-yard line.
The Bills were able to turn that turnover into a field goal, which helped kick off Buffalo's dominant effort in a 32-6 win over their division rival.
This marks the first time Gilliam has received the weekly honor from the NFL. He's also the first Bills player to earn the special teams honor since Nyhiem Hines in Week 18 of the 2022 season.
This is the fourth time this season a Bills player has earned an honor as an AFC Player of the Week.
Quarterback Josh Allen has twice earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week in 2023, while linebacker Terrel Bernard was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week in a Week 3 win over the Washington Commanders.
