Reports: Two more Titans test positive for COVID-19; Sunday's matchup with Bills in jeopardy

It has not been a good Wednesday morning around the National Football League regarding COVID-19 testing with three teams, two of which directly relate to the Buffalo Bills.

Starting in Tennessee, the Titans have had two more players test positive for COVID-19 after two consecutive days of negative tests throughout the organization. ESPN NFL reporter Dianna Russini at first reported that it was one Titans player to test positive, but senior NFL reporter Albert Breer later added that an additional player also tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Titans were originally scheduled to re-open their facilities on Wednesday to prepare for Sunday's matchup with the Bills at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. However, those plans have been put on hold indefinitely, and now Sunday's game is in serious jeopardy.

Russini also said on Wednesday that due to a number of complications, including some possible scheduling problems, the only options for the Bills-Titans game may be to cancel or forfeit the contest.

A total of 22 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 in the Titans organization since Sept. 24, and the organization has not been at their facilities since Sept. 29.

Mark Maske of the Washington Post has reported that the league is investigating whether or not the organization violated Covid protocols recently, while noting the Titans say they have complied.

In addition to the two positive COVID-19 tests for the Titans on Wednesday, the Las Vegas Raiders have had another player test positive for the coronavirus after defensive tackle Maurice Hurst was placed on the team's reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday.

The Bills were just in Las Vegas this past Sunday as they improved to 4-0 with a 30-23 win over the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

Not only are the Bills going to be monitoring the situation with this Sunday's game with the Titans, they will also have to monitor their own situation with COVID-19 tests after playing the Raiders.

Last week, the Minnesota Vikings were forced to close their facilities after playing the Titans in Week 3. The good news was that the team had no positive COVID-19 tests in their organization and were allowed to re-open their facilities after a couple of days.

The Bills may have to undergo a similar process to that of the Vikings starting on Wednesday.

The other team to have another positive COVID-19 test pop up on Wednesday was the New England Patriots, as former Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore is the player that tested positive. NFL Network reporter Mike Garafalo says that Gilmore is asymptomatic and, for now, is feeling OK.
