Is this massive 3D billboard of Aaron Donald cool or weird?

In a development that all but certainly will cause a car crash at some point, there’s a new 3D billboard of Aaron Donald in downtown Los Angeles.

Donald and the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams will begin their season Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium. In anticipation of the event, an augmented reality billboard showed an animated Donald putting on his Super Bowl ring.

If nothing else, it’s an interesting use of technology.

While not exactly slammed with traffic at the moment the video was taken, Donald’s massive 3D hand zipping through drivers’ peripheral vision seems like a recipe for disaster. That appears to be at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and South Figueroa Drive, which is in eyeshot of Crypto.com Arena. It’s a busy area.

You can’t knock the innovation, though. Billboards have a special place in the football world, so bonus points for the creativity. Hopefully those points are worth something to the insurance companies fielding claims for fender-benders there.

Oh, and we agree that at a quick first glance before the ring pops up it looked like he was giving the middle finger, right?
