More than 200 employees in the Scranton School district will be furloughed after a vote by the school board last evening. Those affected include paraprofessionals, maintenance, crossing guards and a nurse. All affected will also lose their medical benefits. The vote was taken because students in the district are, for now, attending classes virtually. The district will continue to review the situation and when a return to the classroom is possible those workers can be called back to their positions.
