A settlement has been reached in a federal lawsuit over the death of a confidential informant. The Lackawanna County District Attorney’s office will pay the estate of Nina Gatto most of the 1.85 million dollars settlement. Gatto was an informant in an investigation targeting a drug dealer. That man, with two others, are charged with killing her. WNEP reports a county detective also must pay a portion of the settlement. The victim’s mother filed the suit alleging Gatto was not protected. The DA’s office says they instituted new policies with informants after the murder.
