A community movement in Archbald is gaining momentum as residents circulate a petition demanding the immediate removal of several high ranking borough officials. The push for leadership changes follows the recent discovery of emails that allegedly show local administrators working behind the scenes with developers tied to a controversial data center project. Organizers of the effort report they have already gathered approximately 500 signatures in less than a week.
The petition specifically targets the borough solicitor, the council president, the borough manager, and the zoning officer. Supporters of the measure claim these individuals have maintained an inappropriately close relationship with developers, potentially compromising their ability to represent the public interest. To ensure the legitimacy of the movement, organizers have restricted signing privileges to Archbald residents only and require all signatures to be collected in person rather than through online platforms.
This internal political strife comes at a critical time for the region as the Green Mountain Data Center proposal moves forward. The borough is scheduled to hold its next conditional use hearing regarding the project this Thursday. Due to high public interest and the growing controversy surrounding the development, the meeting will be hosted at Valley View High School to accommodate the expected crowd.
