FELL TWP., PA — A husband and wife are behind bars in Lackawanna County after authorities accused them of deliberately setting fire to their home to collect insurance payouts.

Salvatore Carovinci, 42, and Holly Carovinci, 41, both of Ocala, Florida, face multiple criminal charges, including arson and insurance fraud, in connection with the July 25 blaze at their Shannon Street residence.

According to investigators with the Carbondale Police Department, the couple put the property up for sale just weeks before the fire occurred. Less than four days after the blaze destroyed the structure, the Carovincis submitted an insurance claim and subsequently received a $10,000 payout for the home's contents.

Following an investigation into the origin of the fire, police took the couple into custody on Thursday. Both Salvatore and Holly Carovinci were remanded to the Lackawanna County Prison after being unable to post $100,000 bail each.
