Authorities responded to a train derailment in Lackawanna County on Monday morning after 13 train cars jumped the tracks in Old Forge. The incident occurred just after 10:00 a.m. behind Moosic Road, sending several cars into the nearby treeline. Despite the significant wreckage, which included at least one car hanging several feet off the rails, the train's two conductors were not injured.

Officials confirmed that while most of the derailed cars were empty, three of them were hauling wine at the time of the accident. There were no hazardous materials involved, and the Lackawanna County Emergency Management Agency stated there is no current risk to the environment or public safety. Investigators from Norfolk Southern are on-site to determine the cause of the derailment as cleanup efforts continue.
