Breaking news: Banana Ball is coming to PNC Field in Moosic for two games in 2026!
Banana Ball can be described as baseball “reimagined”. In announcing that Moosic’s PNC Field had been chosen to host two Banana Ball games in 2026, Milb.com called Banana Ball a “global phenomenon.”
If you’re already familiar with Banana Ball, here are the important details:
When: May 22 and 23.
Where: PNC Field in Moosic.
What: Two Banana Ball “official league games” featuring the Loco Beach Coconuts vs. the Firefighters.
Tickets for both games will be issued via a lottery system. Interested fans can enter here: bananaball.com/tickets, but the window for signing up closes on October 31st. If selected via the lottery, standard tickets start at $35.
Officially debuting in 2020, Banana Ball will take a major leap forward in 2026 with the launch of the BBCL (Banana Ball Championship League). The BBCL will consist of six teams, playing a 60 game season across different stops around the country.
While the Savannah Bananas are the best known Banana Ball team, the inaugural season of the BBCL/tour will feature games between all Banana Ball teams.
The season will be followed by a championship series in October, 2026.
What makes the Banana Ball experience different?
Whether it’s dancing players and umpires (which are standard at all games), to one-off viral moments (like a hitter using a bat that was on fire), if you have a ticket to a Banana Ball game, you can expect to see something you’ve never seen before.
Just ask one of the 81,000 fans who turned out to watch a Banana Ball game at Clemson University on April 26, 2025, who witnessed players on horseback, giant choreographed dances, and batter who did ballet moves while at the plate.
If you think all of “this” sounds crazy, you’re not alone. However, Banana Ball creator Jesse Cole’s vision for this new version of baseball was completely by design. Instead of the focus being on the traditional rules of the game, Cole put his focus squarely on the fans. In fact, fan experience is literally the motto of the game: “Fans First. Entertain Always.”
With all of this “nonsense,” is Banana Ball actually a real competitive game? Yes.
What are the rules of Banana Ball?
The full list of the eleven rules of Banana Ball can be found on the game’s official site, but here are a few that truly showcase the difference between traditional baseball and Banana Ball.
Rule 1: Win the inning, get the point. From BananaBall.com, “every inning is worth one point. The team that gets the most runs in an inning, gets a point for that inning, except for the last inning, where every run counts.”
Rule 2: Games have a two hour time limit.
Rule 8: If a fan catches a foul ball, it’s an out.
Banana Ball may not be for everybody, but there’s no denying that Banana Ball has captivated the imagination of fans around the world. As of September 22, 2025, with nine games left on their tour, the Banana Ball World Tour has already surpassed 2.2 million fans over 115 games.
As Banana Ball continues to grow in popularity, NEPA gets its chance to witness the game live when the BBCL arrives at PNC Field for two games on May 22 and 23. Again, tickets can only be obtained via lottery and the deadline to enter is October 31st. To sign up, visit: bananaball.com/tickets
