A movie theatre in downtown Scranton has received a violation notice because its outdoor lights are “too bright.” The “Art Haus Theatre and Social Club” finished installing an illuminating sign last month that’s directly above the entrance to the building on the corner of Penn and Lackawanna Avenues.
The new sign can be seen from both avenues as it lights up. However, Scranton zoning officials sent a letter on Monday, saying the signage lights are violating a section of Scranton’s Zoning Ordinance involving light and glare. The ordinance requires the theater to dim the lights down and to completely turn them off when the theatre is closed.
