PA State Police and the Luzerne County Coroner announced yesterday a cold case in Luzerne County is now a criminal homicide investigation. Genetic testing done on a human skull found in Newport Township in 2021 confirmed it is that of Joan Marie Dymond. The Luzerne County Coroner's Office ruled the death a homicide. The 14 year old was last seen in June of 1969 when she left her home in Wilkes Barre heading to Andover Street Park. PA Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
