Dunmore man charged with murder

A man now faces homicide charges in the death of a woman in Dunmore earlier this month. Police say 36 year Nicole Vega was found shot to death inside a home along Veterans Drive on January 3. 37 year old Maxwell Hawkins, who lived in the home with Vega, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of children and public drunkenness. The district attorney's office says three children were also in the home at the time; they are now staying with relatives. Investigators charged Hawkins Thursday with criminal homicide. He remains locked up in Lackawanna County Prison, awaiting a preliminary hearing set for January 29.
