DUNMORE, PA — A Dunmore woman faces dozens of felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly setting a fire beneath a porch at a multi-family residence while several families, including young children, were asleep inside.

According to Dunmore police, 44-year-old Jennifer Marie Kania was arrested early Monday in connection with the fire set around 2:00 a.m. Sunday at 1810 Green Ridge Street. Investigators stated that four separate families were inside the multi-unit residence at the time the flames were ignited beneath the structure's porch.

Authorities filed a total of 29 criminal counts against Kania. She is charged with nine counts of attempted aggravated arson, nine counts of attempted arson, and nine counts of recklessly endangering another person—reflecting the individuals endangered inside the building—along with one count of arson and one count of risking a catastrophe.

Kania was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Paul Keeler, who set bail at $150,000 straight cash. Unable to post bail, she was remanded to the Lackawanna County Prison pending a preliminary hearing.
