DURYEA, PA — A Duryea man is behind bars after authorities say he broke into his brother’s home, attacked him with a kitchen knife, and led officers from multiple departments on a vehicle pursuit in a stolen truck.
The Assault and Theft
According to investigators, Jesse Seavey forced his way into his brother's apartment by smashing a side window with a baseball bat. Once inside, the confrontation escalated when Seavey allegedly assaulted his brother with a large kitchen knife. The victim sustained several injuries during the attack.
Before fleeing the scene, Seavey reportedly stole his brother’s keys and took off in the victim’s pickup truck.
Police Pursuit
The escape was short-lived. Not long after the incident, officers spotted the stolen truck driving past the scene of the crime. Police from Duryea, Hughestown, and Avoca attempted to pull the vehicle over, but Seavey refused to stop. A pursuit ensued, continuing through local roads until officers were finally able to bring the vehicle to a halt on Route 315.
Legal Charges and Custody
Seavey was taken into custody without further incident. He faces a long list of charges, including:
Aggravated assault
Burglary
Theft
Terroristic threats
Recklessly endangering another person
Following his processing, Seavey was denied bail, with officials citing him as a threat to society. He is currently being held at the Luzerne County Prison as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
