AVOCA, PA — Officials at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) will hold a full-scale emergency response exercise on airport grounds Saturday morning in coordination with local emergency management agencies and first responders.

The drill is scheduled to take place on airport property between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Designed to simulate an aircraft emergency scenario, the full-scale exercise will allow emergency personnel to test and evaluate the airport's comprehensive Accident Response Plan, practice multi-agency communication, and review staging procedures.

Airport administration confirmed that the training exercise will not disrupt commercial flights or passenger operations, and all scheduled arrivals and departures will proceed as planned.

AVP officials are alerting the public and surrounding residents that an increased presence of emergency vehicles and the active use of sirens around the facility during the exercise window are routine parts of the drill and should not cause concern.
