GIBSON TWP., PA — A devastating single-vehicle crash in Susquehanna County claimed the lives of an entire Tunkhannock family over the weekend.
Emergency crews and Pennsylvania State Police responded around 10:15 a.m. to the area of 1365 Rock Mountain Drive in Gibson Township following reports of a vehicle off the roadway. Upon arrival, first responders located a sedan resting approximately 60 feet down a steep embankment in a creek along property belonging to the Rock Mountain Bible Camp.
Authorities identified the four occupants found deceased inside the vehicle as 45-year-old Peter Thatcher, his 45-year-old wife Sandra Thatcher, their 11-year-old son Noah, and their 10-year-old daughter Layla.
Pennsylvania State Police at the Gibson barracks are leading the investigation to determine the cause of the wreck and the exact timeline of when the car left the roadway. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact PSP Gibson at 570-465-3154.
