PITTSTON — A late-night fire heavily damaged a home on Market Street, displacing two people and their pets. All occupants and animals escaped the blaze unharmed, authorities said.
Fire crews were called to the scene around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to officials, the fire originated in the basement and quickly spread to the kitchen and bathroom, causing severe damage throughout the residence.
Two people, two dogs, and a cat were inside the home when the fire broke out but were able to safely evacuate. The American Red Cross has been contacted to provide assistance to the displaced family. A State Police Fire Marshal has been assigned to investigate the cause of the fire.
