A fire in South Scranton on Sunday injured 3 firefighters and left 20 people without a place to live. According to reports, the fire started just before 6 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Pittston Avenue and Orchard Street, ripping through a corner business and connecting row homes, sending thick clouds of black smoke high into the sky. Two firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital. A third injured firefighter will be off the job for a bit, but did not need a ride to a hospital. The American Red Cross was assisting those affected by Sunday’s fire in South Scranton. The cause of that fire is under investigation.
