Jefferson Health officials provided their first comprehensive update over the weekend regarding recovery efforts at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Dickson City following a devastating fire last Wednesday night. While the hospital remains temporarily closed for safety assessments, structural engineers have determined the main building is sound, with the most severe damage limited to the attached Medical Office Building. To maintain continuity of care, hundreds of patients are currently being redirected to alternate locations, including several regional LVPG Orthopedics & Sports Medicine offices that are set to begin seeing patients as early as tomorrow. Later this afternoon, Governor Josh Shapiro is scheduled to visit the Eagle Hose Company in Dickson City to personally thank the first responders whose swift actions during the sub-freezing temperatures ensured the safe evacuation of 77 patients.
