Is outdoor ice skating coming to downtown Scranton?

Ice skating could be coming to Courthouse Square in Lackawanna County. Proposals for a temporary, synthetic ice skating rink have recently been solicited according to officials. The rink would open with the annual Lackawanna Winter Market and remain available into early January. While the ultimate size of the temporary rink remains to be seen, the area on the North Washington Avenue side of the square where it would be sited is approximately 7,200 square feet. Proposals to provide the ice rink are due back to the county on Monday.
