SCRANTON, PA — Polling places opened at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday across Northeastern Pennsylvania as voters began casting ballots in critical mid-term federal, state, and local races, headlined by the contest in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District between Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan and Democratic challenger Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti.
Voters across Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne, Pike, and portions of Monroe counties are turning out for in-person voting through 8:00 p.m. this evening. Under Pennsylvania election law, anyone in line at their designated precinct by 8:00 p.m. is legally entitled to cast a ballot.
For mail-in and absentee voters who have not yet submitted their ballots, county election bureaus remind residents that ballots must be physically deposited into an official county drop box or delivered directly into the hands of county election staff by 8:00 p.m. tonight; postmarks do not count.
Voters encountering registration questions, precinct changes, or tabulator issues can contact their county bureau directly:
