The Pennsylvania Democratic Party will oversee the Lackawanna County Democratic Committee’s reorganization next week with all elected county committee members participating. A state party spokesperson confirmed that meeting will take place July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center downtown.
The confirmation comes after a Lackawanna County judge amended an injunction Thursday to allow the state party to facilitate the reorganization, a recent development in a civil case brought by 13 of 76 elected members of the county committee targeted for removal under the leadership of outgoing Chairman Chris Patrick.
The state party’s executive committee voted June 29 to intervene in the dispute and facilitate the pending reorganization where all members, including the 76, will elect the committee’s next officers.
The reorganization meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 14th.
