HARRISBURG, PA — Recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Pennsylvania will see an increase in monthly benefits and expanded income eligibility limits starting Oct. 1.
The changes, announced by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), stem from the federal government's annual cost-of-living adjustments designed to offset inflation and rising grocery costs. Under the updated guidelines, the average monthly benefit for Pennsylvanians will rise by $18, while the minimum monthly benefit increases from $24 to $25.
State officials emphasized that the adjustments apply automatically and that no current SNAP recipient will experience a reduction in overall assistance. The new monthly income thresholds and maximum benefit caps will remain in effect through Sept. 30, 2027.
The maximum monthly gross income limit for a single-person household increases to $2,660, with a maximum monthly benefit of $306. For a family of four, the gross monthly income ceiling rises to $5,500, with a maximum benefit allowance of $1,023.
