Lack. Co. mulling a film commission to attract filmakers

Lackawanna County officials want to make it easier to make a movie in the county. Commissioners will introduce for first reading Wednesday an ordinance creating the Lackawanna County Film and Multimedia Commission to promote the county as a premiere filming location. Local documentary filmmaker Bob Savakinus of Carbondale will speak to the effort at Wednesday’s commissioners meeting. The commission would also apply for potential public and private funding to support its mission and serve as a point of contact for prospective filmmakers.
