
A cyberattack is under investigation that may have exposed the personal information of some one million patients of a third party vendor of hospitals operated in 16 states by Community Health Systems. That includes Regional Hospital and Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton and Wilkes Barre General Hospital. According to the CHS website, the data breach occurred at a firm that provides file transfer software, exposing such personal information as name, addresses, social security numbers and medical information, between January 28 and 30. The investigation into the breach continues and those affected will be notified by mail and offered free credit monitoring for two years.
