MOOSIC, PA — Police in Moosic Borough are investigating the origin of a loud noise that startled residents and generated a surge of 911 calls across part of Lackawanna County last evening.
The disturbance occurred around 8:00 p.m., with numerous residents reporting a sound that resembled a sudden explosion.
In a community update shared on social media, the Moosic Borough Police Department stated that officers immediately swept the borough to locate the source of the noise. As part of the response, authorities coordinated with officials at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, who confirmed that no aircraft in the area were capable of producing a sonic boom around the time of the event.
Despite the thorough search, police reported that no damage was found and the source of the blast remains unidentified.
