At the Luzerne County Council meeting last night, some of the discussion centered on the upcoming primary election on May 16. On hand Election Director Eryn Harvey to answer questions from council members and voters on using paper ballots instead of electronic ballot marking devices. Hand marked ballots will then be fed into tabulators to be cast. She explained using paper ballots have been used in both a special election back in January as well as the primary in 2020 and feedback from both poll workers and voters was positive. The switch to the paper ballots does not mean they will be permanent. Election poll worker training will soon be getting underway in Luzerne County.

Luzerne County is also looking to hire 20 temporary election workers for primary election day. For more information visit luzernecounty.org.

The last 3 of the 6 applicants for Luzerne County Manager were interviewed yesterday by the Luzerne County Search Committee. Now the committee will meet later this week to discuss all the interviews. They plan to give the top three finalists to Luzerne County Council by the end of the month. Votes from 7 of the 11 council members will be required to hire the new manager.
