New Luzerne County Manager, Randy Robertson's first day on the job is one week from today, June 13. Members of Luzerne County Council say they want to give him some time to become acquainted with the county and home rule government before they hold discussions on what to do with the rest of the county's American Rescue Plan Act pandemic relief funding. Of the 112.9 million dollars allocated, about 16.8 million has been approved for requests received. That leaves about 96 million remaining. Council members also want to be sure any of the projects they received requests for will fall under the funding guidelines. $300,000 of the funds approved are going toward inspection of the Water Street Bridge connecting Pittston and West Pittston. There's no hurry. Council has until 2024 to act.
