LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A local mother and grandmother will spend years in state prison for the severe and repeated abuse of an 11-year-old girl, Attorney General Dave Sunday announced Wednesday.
Amanda Gregorio, the child's mother, was sentenced to 10 to 40 years in state prison. The victim's grandmother, Stacey Louder, was sentenced to a term of eight to 30 years behind bars.
The sentences follow guilty pleas from both women. Investigators revealed that the 11-year-old girl was subjected to horrific conditions, including being repeatedly beaten, restrained, and intentionally deprived of food.
During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors and law enforcement officers detailed the extent of the mistreatment, with investigators formally describing the systemic abuse of the young girl as a "travesty."
