A man was killed Monday afternoon after being struck by a freight train in Kingston.
According to reports, the Kingston Police Department stated that around 3:00 p.m. a man was killed after a train hit him on the tracks over Market Street.
Officers say the train crew noticed the man about a mile out and laid on its whistle, but he did not respond to any warnings. Police said the train applied the brakes immediately; however, due to the train's weight, they were unable to stop in time.
The victim's identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
