NEPA travel agent facing more fraud charges

An area travel agent has been charged with defrauding more than 30 customers out of vacations in 4 counties.  Eileen Miner, the owner of Thompson Tours, faces 85 felony theft and fraud-related charges and six misdemeanors stemming from 33 cases — 22 filed in Lackawanna County, nine filed in Luzerne and one each in Schuylkill and Centre counties.  Miner is behind bars at the Lackawanna County Prison with bail set at $306,000 as she awaits trial.  Luzerne County D.A. Sam Sanguedolce said prosecutors in Luzerne County will seek restitution for the victims, although whether Miner will be able to repay the stolen money — estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars — is questionable.
