A vacant site in Lackawanna County is set for a major transformation as Premier Brands of America prepares to open its first Pennsylvania manufacturing facility. The company, which produces health and wellness products such as Arm and Hammer Foot Care and Cutter Poison Ivy, is investing $15 million to redevelop the former Scranton Times-Tribune printing plant in Scott Township. This expansion is expected to create 58 new full-time jobs over the next three years, providing a significant boost to the local economy and restoring the site as a hub of regional productivity.
The project is supported by nearly $4 million in state funding, including loans and grants designed to encourage industrial growth within the Commonwealth. Premier Brands of America officially purchased the building from MediaNews Group Inc. in December of last year, marking a new chapter for the property which has sat unused since printing operations moved elsewhere. Local and state leaders have praised the move, noting that the investment not only repurposes a large vacant facility but also strengthens the manufacturing supply chain within Northeastern Pennsylvania
