A 70-year-old Nicholson man faces criminal charges after police say he used a small recording device attached to his shoe to film under a woman’s skirt at a Dickson City department store.
Dickson City police responded to the Target on Commerce Boulevard around 3:26 p.m. Thursday after a loss prevention officer reported that witnesses saw a man, later identified as Sargent Snyder, pointing a camera up a victim's skirt. According to a criminal complaint, store surveillance footage showed Snyder attaching the device to his shoe after noticing a group of young females near the camping section, then following the victim and her friends through the store for several minutes.
Witnesses reported that Snyder kicked the activated recording device off his shoe after being confronted. Officers later recovered the functioning camera inside the store, and Snyder admitted the device belonged to him and acknowledged taking improper images of the victim. Snyder also permitted officers to search his vehicle and seize his cell phone, which he stated he used to download footage from the recording device.
Police charged Snyder with invasion of privacy, harassment, and disorderly conduct. Authorities noted that additional charges could be filed pending the forensic examination of the seized phone and recording equipment.
