Authorities in Plains Township are investigating the death of a 64-year-old woman as suspicious following the discovery of her body last week. Jean Moser was found unresponsive on February 18 inside her home on North Main Street after a man went to the residence to check on her welfare. According to a search warrant filed in the case, investigators and Luzerne County Coroner Dion Fernandes noted injuries that raised immediate red flags, including blunt force trauma and swelling around her eyes, as well as blood near her nose and mouth.
The Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office is assisting in the ongoing investigation as police work to determine the timeline of events leading up to the discovery. While an initial examination was conducted, Coroner Fernandes stated that the official cause and manner of death are being withheld pending the results of specialized forensic testing.
