The Plymouth Borough Police Department is investigating reports that a local business sold counterfeit Casella garbage stickers, a scheme that has left some residents holding the bag with uncollected trash.

According to investigators, the fraudulent stickers were allegedly sold at C. Matus Beer & Smokes, located at 39 E. Main St. in Plymouth, between late April and May 2026. Because Casella waste management crews will not collect trash bags bearing the fake labels, affected residents are finding their garbage left at the curb.

Authorities are trying to determine the full scope of the scam and are asking for the public's help. If you purchased Casella garbage stickers from this location during that timeframe and your trash was subsequently bypassed by collection trucks, police want to hear from you.

Anyone who believes they were affected should contact Capt. Thomas at 570-779-2147 ext. 125, or submit a direct message to the Plymouth Borough Police Department via their official social media page.
