HARRISBURG, PA — A Luzerne County man will serve up to 15 years in state prison for possessing and uploading child sexual abuse material.
Donald George Long, 68, of Plymouth, was sentenced by Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Michael T. Vough to serve four to 15 years in state prison, followed by five years of probation. Upon release, Long must register as a sex offender for 15 years under Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
The case originated from cyber tips provided by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which led agents from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General's Child Predator Section to trace illicit uploads back to an IP address at Long’s West Main Street home. Investigators determined that Long, who lived alone, was using an internet account registered to his deceased mother to compile and download files depicting pre-teenage children being abused.
Agent search warrants executed at the residence resulted in the seizure and forensic extraction of multiple electronic devices, where investigators uncovered extensive digital contraband. Long admitted to viewing and saving the files and subsequently pleaded guilty to 100 felony counts of sexual abuse of children.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney Generals Kimberly Moraski and Mamie Phillips on behalf of the Commonwealth.
