Scranton police are investigating a Wednesday afternoon shooting on the city's West Side that left a 20-year-old man injured. Officers rushed to the scene following reports of gunfire in the 300 to 400 block of 3rd Avenue, where an altercation between neighbors had escalated into violence.
Scranton Police Chief Thomas Carroll confirmed that Roger Sugerman allegedly drew a handgun during the dispute and shot his neighbor. Sugerman was quickly taken into custody by responding officers without further incident. The young victim was transported to a local hospital, where officials report he is currently in stable condition with a non-life-threatening injury. Charges against Sugerman are pending as detectives continue to process the scene.
