Residents in the city of Scranton have begun receiving notices from PA American Water that a rate hike request filed with the PA Public Utility Commission earlier this month could mean an increase in water bills. The topic came up at last night's Scranton City Council meeting and city officials say they plan to fight the request. The increase would range from 25 to 32 percent for businesses, homes and industries. In January, the water company plans to invest 1billion dollars to improve service by replacing aging pipelines and upgrading water and wastewater systems across the Commonwealth. Customers can take action and speak out about the proposed increase. Learn more by going to puc.state.pa.us.
