The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported that statewide gaming revenue grew by 11.6% this January compared to the same month last year. Total revenue across the Commonwealth reached $590.6 million, fueled largely by a record-breaking month for online gaming (iGaming), which surged over 18%.

However, the news was less positive for the two major casinos in Northeast Pennsylvania, which both reported year-over-year declines for the period:

Mohegan Pennsylvania in Plains Township reported a 3.1% decline in total revenue.

Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County saw a sharper drop of 13.7%.

The Gaming Control Board, which regulates slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, and fantasy contests, noted that while traditional brick-and-mortar slot revenue remained relatively flat statewide, the digital sector continues to be the primary engine for growth. The statewide increase resulted in nearly $250 million in tax revenue for the month.
