The swimming area at Ricketts Glen State Park in Luzerne County is temporarily closed after routine water testing revealed dangerously high levels of bacteria.
According to a post on the park’s official Facebook page, the test was conducted Thursday and showed bacteria levels above safe swimming standards. Park officials said the closure will remain in effect until follow-up testing confirms the water is safe.
While swimming is off-limits, the park’s picnic area, sandy beach, and boat rental facilities in Fairmount Township remain open to visitors. Updates will be posted as new test results become available.
