Motorists who travel Route 309 from Mountaintop to Wilkes Barre are reminded over the next several weeks, use caution while work is underway. A portion of the road at the bottom of the mountain will be down to one lane as crews correct what PennDOT describes as "unexpected roadway drainage". It causes water to seep onto the roadway resulting in icy conditions which can mean hazardous driving conditions. It's in the same area where work was done last year. Work is expected to take several weeks to complete.
