ARCHBALD, Pa. — A man and a teenager face criminal charges after a fatal weekend shooting in Archbald that claimed the life of a 19-year-old Scranton resident, according to the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities arrested 20-year-old Kayden Christopher Jurbala of Archbald and charged him with criminal homicide, robbery, and other related offenses.

The charges stem from an early morning incident on Sunday, June 28, when emergency crews responded to the area of Laurel Street Park. The Lackawanna County Coroner later identified the victim as 19-year-old Tyvon Ash.

According to investigators, the deadly confrontation unfolded during a planned marijuana transaction. Police allege that Jurbala intended to rob Ash by purchasing the narcotics using counterfeit currency. When Ash realized the money was fake and attempted to leave the scene in a vehicle, investigators say Jurbala pulled a stolen handgun and fired a single shot through the open passenger-side window, striking Ash in the back.

A 16-year-old juvenile was also arrested for their involvement in the incident and currently faces charges in juvenile court. Jurbala remains in custody without bail.
