Two men arrested after state police predator sting in Luzerne County

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Two Pennsylvania men face felony charges following an undercover internet crimes against children sting conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police in Luzerne County.

Authorities arrested 25-year-old Tyler Spangenberg of Pittston and 38-year-old Daniel Lichtenwalner of Nazareth. Investigators say both men engaged in explicit online conversations and sent sexual messages to an undercover state trooper whom they believed to be a 14-year-old girl.

According to the criminal affidavit, Lichtenwalner was taken into custody after sending multiple messages and subsequently attempting to meet up with the individual he believed to be the minor.

Investigators looking into the second suspect identified Spangenberg as a previous Megan’s Law offender. Police noted that he was utilizing an unauthorized Snapchat account during the messaging, which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for his apprehension.

Both Spangenberg and Lichtenwalner face several criminal counts, including unlawful contact with a minor and related offenses.
